Principal of Chandina Women's College in Comilla. Students have been vocal in protesting the arrest of Mamun Parvez. The District Detective (DB) arrested the police principal from his residence in connection with the attack on the student-mob movement. Protesting this arrest and demanding the release of the principal, the students started a massive protest by blocking the Dhaka-Chittagong highway from Thursday (November 8) morning.

After the arrest, the students started a protest by blocking the highway at the gate area of ​​Chandina upazila from 12:30 pm to 1 am. They claimed that the allegations leveled against the principal were false and he was entitled to unconditional release. The angry students took a stand on the road with slogans of 'Release the principal' and 'False case, want justice'. As a result, traffic jams were created over an area of ​​at least seven kilometers on both sides of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, causing extreme suffering to commuters and drivers.


**Why arrest the principal?**


Principal Mamun Parvez has been accused of attacking the student movement. Allegedly, when the students of Chandina Mahila College protested with various demands, they clashed with the college administration and the police. In this clash, the principal was accused of assaulting the students. Besides, some students alleged that the principal was involved in instigating the police to take their agitation on a violent path. However, the principal claimed innocence and said that he wanted the agitation to be conducted peacefully.


After the principal's arrest, students have been vocal in demanding his unconditional release, accusing him of filing false cases against him. They say that the principal is an honest and diligent teacher, who has always worked for the welfare of the students. The students have announced that they will continue their agitation against his arrest.

The student protest was not peaceful and the situation turned heated by blocking the highway. As a result, the Dhaka-Chittagong highway was completely blocked and traffic jams were created over an area of ​​seven kilometers. At that time, thousands of vehicles were stuck on the highway and passengers had to wait for a long time. Thousands of people traveling towards Chittagong and Dhaka suffered due to traffic jam. In particular, drivers of buses, trucks and small cars among commuters suffer greatly.
